Superlatives (Study)

SUPERLATIVES

We use SUPERLATIVES to express the very highest degree, or the very best example of something.

  1. SHORT ADJECTIVES: LONG, SHORT, HIGH, TALL, COLD, DRY, HOT, BAD,…

 

The   +     adjective  +  -EST

Examples:

I am the tallest in my family.

The Shard is the highest building in London.

 

***Happy——————————-the happiest

***Big ———————————-the biggest

 

  1. LONG ADJECTIVES: DANGEROUS, BEAUTIFUL, INTERESTING, ENORMOUS, HILARIOUS, FANTASTIC, AMAZING,…

 

The + MOST  + adjective

Examples:

I think, London is the most beautiful city I have visited.

Whales are the most amazing animals.

 

  1. IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES:

Good/Well——————————the best

Bad—————————————the worst

Far (lejos)——————————-the farthest/the furthest

Old—————————————the oldest/the eldest (in a family)
